Just like preparing for your appointment, following proper aftercare sets the stage for lasting results. SMP is an investment and when taken care of, you'll see results for years to come.
Your scalp will be healing for the next 7 days, follow these instructions for great results!
Do not touch the healing pigmented area with your unclean hands
You are allowed to wash the pigmented area on the 3rd after from your appointment.
When washing the area, use a mild sulfate free shampoo.
You can apply the supplied aftercare moisturizer 2-4 times a day or until the area is healed.
Avoid make-up, sun exposure, saunas, jacuzzis, swimming, and contact with animals until the area for 14 days.
Do you best to keep the area uncovered while in the healing process.
Going forward you will want to avoid products that contain AHA's (anti-aging creams) on the hairline of the procedure area. Additional ingredients to avoid are those with acids that encourage the overturning of cells or act as an exfoliant. These types of products work to remove layers of skin, by doing so they also work to remove SMP which is why you want to avoid them in the pigmented areas.
After your healing is complete
Once your healing proecss is complete you should continue to protect your investment by using sunscreen, doing so prevents the pigment from fading too quickly.
Use a spray-on sunscreen or wear protective clothing after the procedure area is healed to prevent pigment color fading.
We recommend using Anti-Shine 2.0 to assist in giving your SMP a natural look, this is the same product that was used at the end of your appointment
If you are a blood donor, you may not give blood for 1 year following your Scalp Micropigmentation procedure, according to the Red Cross. (This would fall under their category of Permanent Make-up application).
Things to look out for after your appointment
If you experience itching, swelling, blistering or any other complications, stop using the product and call your technician immediately. You may be allergic to the post-care product you are using!
If you have excessive redness, swelling or tenderness, or any red streaks going from the procedure site toward the heart, elevated temperature, or purulent drainage from the procedure site, contact your physician. The area may be infected and you may need to seek medical care.
